Community Space Jam Blasts Off
Space lovers of all ages gathered for an evening filled with exclusive educational experiences
February 22, 2019
Lake Nona’s first-ever community Space Jam delivered an out of this world experience. Space lovers of all ages gathered at Crescent Park in Laureate Park for an evening filled with exclusive educational experiences.

Dr. Smith Johnston, NASA Medical Director & Flight Surgeon, and Michael Lopez-Alegria, former NASA Astronaut with more than 67 hours in space walks, shared personal experiences and answered questions about living in space. A captive audience learned how astronauts sleep in space and how medical treatment is adapted to be provided in space.

Johnston and Lopez-Alegria were in Lake Nona to participate in the Lake Nona Impact Forum, and the space pros welcomed the opportunity to connect with our community.

After the sun set the crowd gathered for a unique demonstration by the Orlando Science Center. Science, stargazing and NASA astronauts delivered the ultimate experience.
