First Orlando City Park Opens in Lake NonaMonday, July 15th 2019
Everyday heroes have a new place to play at Lake Nona’s first City of Orlando park, Heroes Community Park.
“Our City of Orlando – Government parks play a role in our city’s unmatched quality of life by offering spaces for recreation and relaxation,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer who cut the ribbon with Lake Nona’s City Commissioner Jim Gray and young heroes ready to tackle the new playground.
“This truly is a live, work, play community, and that is what I think people want,” Gray said.
The park is within walking distance of Nona Adventure Park and Laureate Park Elementary School and features four multi-use fields lit for night activities. A concession stand with restrooms, team benches, bleachers and field equipment are nearby.
The park also has a medium size picnic pavilion, large group pavilion plenty of green space and a 12-foot wide trail for walking, jogging or other activities.
Construction on McCoy Community Park is expected to be finished later this year.
