Ready to Run Nona

Get moving with this eight-week training plan

June 15, 2020

Whether it’s your first or fifth 5K, we’re sharing an eight-week training plan to help you get ready for race day.

In its 13th year, the Run Nona 5K & Nemours Kids Run will start bright and early on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 7:30 a.m. in Lake Nona Town Center.

Ready to Run Nona 1

The training plan follows a run/walk method that’ll have you gradually running more and walking less with cross-training and rest days mixed in. At the end of eight weeks, you’ll be ready to Run Nona!

Try running somewhere new while you train with these routes around the community. Share your own route with us by tagging @LearnLakeNona on social media.

Route One

Catch the Lake Nona Trial from McCoy Community Park on Dowden Road to the entrance of Northlake Park on the corner of Narcoossee Road and Northlake Parkway. From one end to the other and back, you’ll run/walk just under a 5K.

Ready to Run Nona 2

Route Two

Have you seen our new collection of handcrafted sculptures inspired by nature? On this route, you’ll take an art walk/run starting and ending in the Lake Nona Town Center – just like Run Nona. Along the way you’ll find hops by Park Pizza & Brewing, poppies by Foxtail Coffee, a butterfly in Laureate Park Village Center and more.

Check out Lake Nona on Facebook for weekly motivation leading up to the race. Visit RunNona.com for event registration and COVID-19 safety protocols. See you at the starting line soon!
