A New Fourth of July Celebration

Inaugural Great American Parade and fireworks spectacular lit up Lake Nona

July 01, 2020

We kicked off the Fourth of July holiday week festivities with an all-new event – the Great American Parade and fireworks show in Laureate Park. The socially-distanced event allowed residents from across the community to celebrate the holiday safely together.

Along the parade route, families cheered and waved flags from the comfort of their front porches or lined the sidewalks along the parade route decked out in red, white, and blue, as dozens of local businesses and organizations made their way through the neighborhood.

The drive-by parade featured patriotic floats and displays from Orlando VA, City of Orlando Commissioner Jim Gray, Beep, the Lake Nona Regional Chamber of Commerce, stunt performers and puppeteers, former Miss America Ericka Dunlap, and many more.

Starting at Laureate Park Elementary, the parade moved through the neighborhood ending in the Village Center where a firework spectacular lit up the sky over the lake.

For those who didn’t get a chance to see the live fireworks show, Nonahood News captured a bird’s eye view with drone footage. Click here to watch the livestream of the firework spectacular on Facebook.
