Orlando City to Make Lake Nona Home

Saturday, January 30th 2016

Lake Nona is turning purple!  The exciting news broke today as the Orlando City Soccer Club announced they are coming to Lake Nona in a state-of-the-art training facility that will break ground immediately and open in 2017.

The announcement caused quite a “ruckus” at a special Lake Nona/Orlando City Happy Hour this evening with the entire MLS team and Team Captain Kaká, City President Phil Rawlins, and hundreds of fans present.

The Club’s new 23-acre campus will include six practice fields, training and fitness centers, film and meeting rooms, a players’ clubhouse, and an injury prevention and rehab center.

This is exciting news for our hometown team and exciting news for Lake Nona.  Every day the coaches and players from the MLS squad, the minor league Orlando City B and the Club’s Elite Youth Academy teams will be in our community, training to be the best in soccer.

Orlando City is the latest addition to the Lake Nona Sports & Performance District.  The Club will be located next to the USTA’s National Campus, which opens at the end of this year.  The Sports District will do for performance and training what Medical City did for health and wellness.

Welcome to Lake Nona, Lions!  Go City!  Defy Expectations!
